Fashion Shoot with Natasha Laux
About two weeks ago I did my first photo shoot with a model, Natasha Laux. She was absolutely amazing and was so kind to agree to a test shoot with me! She modeled with an agency in Shanghai, China for a year and wanted to get back into it. I think she has amazing talent and have no doubt she will go far with her career. Anyways, the shoot was styled, shot, and edited by me (as always). And, as always, Matt helped me through the entire shoot. Couldn’t have done it without him =) Oh, and also thanks to Anna for getting me the studio to shoot in!

Usually I shoot on location and I spend most of my time finding great locations. I’m not going to lie, I am not much of a seamless background person… but I gotta practice and I gotta learn. So I planned to shoot against different seamless papers with added decorations made from duct tape, ribbon, and folded paper. I wanted a sort of DIY look…don’t know how well I succeeded but I’m just going to let you judge. Definitely room for improvement.
Some behind the scenes photos that Matt took with his iPhone:
You can see my lighting setup is pretty primative. 3 lights only, two strobes and one softbox. Sometimes I would use a v-flat. I should have had lights to light the background but…. =/
As you can see, my second setup used a smaller seamless… I knew it would be bad news from the start but I risked it to save money on the paper… Never again I tell you! But a first is always good. Learn form our mistakes.
So with the final images, I wanted to create a sort of lookbook with them. Just a small one. I haven’t had the time to print out the images and assemble them yet but here is the digital draft:
Here are the full sized photos plus a few extra… I thought converting some to black and white would be cool:
I’ll post photos of the final book once I get it printed! =) Let me know what you think!
